MCA History MCA Archives: The Hut - Issue No. 1 (1966)

In 1966, the Minnesota Canoe Association was just beginning.
This is the first issue of The Hut, MCA’s original newsletter, published the same year the organization was formed.
Reading it today, it feels simple and direct. It talks about meetings, plans, and the early structure of the organization. There is no sense yet of what MCA would eventually become, just a group of people coming together around a shared interest in canoeing and deciding to build something.
Sixty years later, MCA has grown into a strong and lasting community. This first newsletter is a snapshot of the very beginning.
As part of our 60th anniversary, we will be sharing more newsletters, photos, and stories from MCA’s history throughout the year.
If you were part of MCA in its early years, or have stories or materials to share, we would love to hear from you.
